In this dragon-themed musical exploration, students will enjoy listening to a dramatic collection of pieces from John Powell’s score for How to Train Your Dragon. Along the way, they will learn about the design of the piano and have opportunities to create music for their own imaginary isles. They’ll also sing beautiful and fun songs, play games, participate in a highly rhythmic cup-tapping challenge, and join a journey with Tormod the Troll from Norway as he explores the instruments of the orchestra. Students will love this action-packed adventure into the wild and wonderful world of music!
Piano Expeditions are designed for students ages 4-12 who are beginning to explore the world of music. Level One is especially designed for students who are completely new to the piano, but is easily adapted for those with more experience as well. Students learn basic keyboard theory, are introduced to rhythm concepts through daily experiences, enjoy listening to engaging music while coloring corresponding pictures, and participate in an interactive story throughout the week. Five days of lessons can be scheduled consecutively in one week or spread out over a period of five weeks, and each lesson is designed to be 1.5 hours of class time.
